Job summary

Coupang is seeking an AI & Product Counsel to join our growing legal team in the United States. Based in Seattle, WA or Mountain View, CA, you will review AI-powered features, balance engineering needs with legal risk, and partner with engineering, product, security and privacy teams to embed governance into the development lifecycle.

You will also guide state and international privacy considerations, help shape a scalable AI compliance program, and communicate complex legal concepts to diverse

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and 7+ years of total legal experience, including a combination of major law firm and in-house experience.
• Prior experience in product counseling or AI governance.
• Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.
• Ability to solve problems through creative thinking and partnerships with other teams.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and attain challenging targets through personal drive.

Responsibilities

• Review AI-powered product features and complex technical specifications to provide practical legal guidance while mitigating risk.
• Drive company-wide AI reviews by conducting rigorous assessments of technical details and balancing engineering requirements with legal frameworks to solve complex problems.
• Partner closely with engineering, product management, security, and privacy teams to integrate legal requirements into the product development lifecycle.
• Communicate complex legal concepts and technical insights effectively to diverse stakeholders across the company.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to build scalable processes for AI governance and product compliance.
