Job summary

Magellan AI is seeking an experienced full-stack developer to help launch a major new feature and enhance the core product. You will guide AI coding agents, write precise specs, and own the results from problem framing to implementation.

The role emphasizes quality, documentation, and scalable tooling in a remote-first environment based near NYC. The team builds a Ruby on Rails application with Postgres and ClickHouse, leveraging AI agents to deliver high-impact features.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Expertise in Agile web development with TDD and refactoring.
• Fluency working with AI coding agents day to day, or appetite for it.
• Clear writing for specs, ADRs, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Add new features to the Ruby on Rails app end-to-end.
• Direct AI coding agents by framing problems and constraining solutions.
• Improve code quality with test-driven development and refactoring.
• Document design decisions, ADRs and product docs for operations.
• Extend internal tooling and CLI helpers to encode workflows.
• Build AI-facing product surfaces, with proper authentication and audit logging.
• Improve frontend usability with Turbo/Stimulus and related tech.
• Troubleshoot performance and complex logic across Postgres and ClickHouse.
• Provide operational support to keep systems running during business hours.
• Share in internal hackathons to deliver novel features.
