Job summary

The Alliance for Secure AI in Washington, DC is seeking a Press Assistant to support external and internal communications. You’ll work closely with the Communications Director and Press Secretary, shaping the AI policy narrative and developing clear, accurate messaging.

Ideal candidates are strong writers with a passion for news, a grasp of AP style, and a curiosity about the risks and opportunities of advanced AI. 1–2 years in communications and a bachelor’s in a related field are preferred.

Qualifications

Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to keep up with the news cycle and current events.
Good understanding of AP style and media relations.

Responsibilities

Work with the Communications Director and Press Secretary to implement short- and long-term communications strategies.
Monitor breaking news from print, digital, cable, and social media.
Draft press releases, op-eds, emails, and other materials as needed (external and internal).
Assist in identifying national and local reporters and compiling research.
Produce morning press clips.
Perform other duties to support The Alliance for Secure AI.
