Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• At least 5 years of professional communications experience.
• Previous media experience.
• Strong working knowledge of AI, ML, data science and computational research.
• Ability to translate complex topics for non-expert audiences.
• Strong track record of collaboration with researchers or technical experts.
• Excellent writing and editing skills; experience managing websites and social channels.
• Familiarity with analytics tools and audience engagement metrics.
• Strong project management and ability to coordinate multiple initiatives.
• High attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsabilités

• Lead development of unified narratives for Schmidt Sciences’ AI portfolio.
• Partner with program staff on positioning, messaging and presentation support.
• Highlight voices of fellows and grantees through profiles and features.
• Draft and edit press releases, website content, reports, blogs, newsletters and op-eds.
• Translate AI and scientific research into accessible language for diverse audiences.
• Pitch stories to journalists and influencers in AI and the public.
• Ensure consistency in tone, brand, and messaging across communications.
• Collaborate on multimedia storytelling including video and short explainers.
• Monitor communications performance metrics to inform strategy.
• Identify opportunities to use digital tools and data visualization to strengthen communications.
• Stay updated on AI research trends to ensure timely messaging.
• Monitor grantee publications for amplification on owned channels.
• Manage incoming communications requests with accuracy and brand compliance.
• Provide general project support to the communications team.
• Collaborate across programs; travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
