Job summary

The City and County of San Francisco’s Department of Technology is seeking an AI Platform Support Engineer to help scale AI across city departments. You will design readiness models, manage access provisioning, licenses, and testing pilots for Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and related tools, and work with cybersecurity to ensure secure deployments.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems or equivalent with total credits.
• One year of experience administering or supporting enterprise SaaS/cloud platforms.
• Experience with genAI platforms and enterprise admin consoles.
• Completion of 1010 Information Systems Trainee Program may substitute for the degree.

Responsibilities

• Design readiness model access provisioning, license management, and account administration.
• Build and pilot usage, performance, and service-health monitoring processes.
• Develop platform configuration standards aligned with security and data classification.
• Serve as technical contact with AI platform vendors during pilots.
• Run structured pilots with departments and capture feedback to refine models.
• Test local AI agents and desktop AI tools for risk and fit.
• Coordinate security reviews with cybersecurity teams and incorporate findings.
• Develop deployment methods for desktop AI apps and agents.
• Communicate findings to departments to inform adoption decisions.
• Build consumption-based cost models and budget projections.
• Document lessons learned and procedures for transition to permanent operations.
• Provide guidance on rollout and governance during project close.
