Job summary

Notion is seeking an AI Platform Engineer to build shared foundations for rapid, reliable AI product delivery at scale. You’ll own prototyping, development and scaling of core AI platform primitives while partnering with product teams to deliver guardrails that speed features to market with fewer duplicates.

Based in San Francisco or New York, you’ll work on reliability, observability, and cost optimization, with anchor days in the office to collaborate in person.

Qualifications

• Experience on LLM, ML platform, data, or infrastructure teams that own critical shared systems.
• Ability to move across backend, infrastructure, libraries, and product code as needed.
• Strong ownership of platform outcomes including reliability, quality, adoption and operational follow-through.
• Clear understanding of context, able to decompose ambiguity and diagnose across layers.
• Balanced view of quality, latency, cost and speed of execution with product impact.

Responsibilities

• Prototype, develop and scale AI platform primitives and systems.
• Partner with product teams to provide paved paths and production-ready guardrails.
• Collaborate across infrastructure, libraries, APIs, and product integration points.
• Operate production AI systems with observability, debugging failures and optimizing latency/cost.
• Support safe adoption of new models and capabilities with versioning and controlled rollouts.
