Job summary

Western Alliance Bancorporation is seeking a Principal Engineer I - Foundry Administrator to lead secure, scalable AI capability delivery across the enterprise. You will own architecture, governance, and admin of the AI Gateway and Foundry related services on Azure, ensuring availability, security and cost optimization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience administering Azure API Management (APIM) and API lifecycle management.
• Bachelor's degree required; Masters/MBA preferred.
• Leadership experience and ability to communicate technical strategies to executives.
• Knowledge of API security, OAuth, OpenID Connect, Managed Identities, Azure RBAC, network security.
• Proficiency in programming languages (C#, Java, TypeScript or Python).
• Experience with Foundry, Azure AI Services, AI Gateway or enterprise AI platforms.
• Experience deploying and managing MCP servers is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain platform standards, API policies, security controls and governance frameworks.
• Design observability, monitoring, logging, and analytics for AI workloads and endpoints.
• Partner on data protection, model governance, and responsible AI controls.
• Lead platform administration: environment provisioning, capacity planning, incident response, performance optimization.
• Establish engineering best practices for AI lifecycle management and deployment.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and provide architectural guidance.
• Review and integrate plans from other engineers to align with architecture principles.
