Job summary

OpenTeams in Washington, DC area (hybrid/remote) seeks a Distributed Systems and ML Infrastructure Engineer to build core services of a containerized, API-first AI platform. You’ll design and run workflow orchestration, data ingestion, and model serving across cloud and restricted environments.

This role requires U.S. citizenship and active TS/SCI clearance preferred. Travel up to 15% may be required; remote work possible for unclassified tasks. Salary range: $145,000–$250,000 USD.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship with eligibility for a U.S. security clearance.
• 6+ years in distributed systems/platform/infrastructure software.
• Production experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms.
• Experience with ML workloads in production.
• Proficient in Python or Go; IaC tooling experience.
• Ability to document interfaces and architectural decisions.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform services for orchestration, data ingest, and results management.
• Operate model gateway and serving services with policy enforcement and auditing.
• Maintain provider abstraction for AWS-native services and cross-cloud deployability.
• Deploy releases into classified and unclassified environments with validation.
• Validate environment parity and assess workload capacity and performance.
• Gate development dependencies behind feature flags and ensure portability.
• Reproduce defects and fix issues across toolchains when available.
