Job summary

OpenTeams is seeking a Distributed Systems and ML Infrastructure Engineer to build core services for a containerized, API-first AI platform. You will design and run platform components across cloud, on-prem, and restricted environments, prioritizing portability and operability.

This hybrid/remote role requires 6+ years of experience, strong Python/Go skills, and a path to TS/SCI clearance. Travel may be involved for government facilities, with work performed onsite as needed.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain/maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• 6+ years in distributed systems, platform/infrastructure engineering, or similar.
• Production experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms.
• Experience with managed Kubernetes services (e.g., EKS).
• Experience with ML workloads in production (model serving, GPU scheduling, pipelines).
• Design/build/operate distributed services for reliability, scalability, performance.
• Proficiency in Python or Go; IaC and deployment tools (Terraform, Helm).
• API-first service design and documented interfaces.
• Ability to document interfaces, deployment procedures, architectural decisions, validation results.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/engineering or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform services for workflow orchestration, data ingest, and results management via APIs.
• Operate model gateway and serving services with policy enforcement and audit logging.
• Maintain provider abstraction for deployment on AWS-native managed services and other clouds.
• Deploy releases into classified and controlled environments, with validation procedures.
• Ensure environment parity after promotions and test platform capacity against workloads.
• Constrain dependencies and gate development-only features behind flags.
• Reproduce defects and fix tools when full toolchain is available.
