Job summary

Sony is seeking an AI-native Staff Software Engineer to help build the next-generation Engagement Platform. You will design scalable RESTful APIs, work with frontend and backend teams, and guide AI agents across the delivery lifecycle.

You will mentor peers, define data models, and ensure secure, auditable AI-driven delivery, contributing to Sony's global ecosystem of experiences for fans and creators.

Qualifications

• 8+ years professional experience with medium/large codebases.
• Full Stack development experience across front-end and back-end.
• Proficiency in REST API design and implementation.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript ecosystems and frameworks (React, Angular, Ember, TypeScript).
• Experience with AI-native coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot).
• Familiarity with prompt engineering, context management and structured output patterns.
• Understanding of agent development concepts, tool use, and workflow chaining.
• Awareness of secure AI coding practices including prompt injection and access control.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design and develop RESTful API endpoints for performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver dynamic, user-centric web applications.
• Define data models and database schemas with emphasis on performance.
• Direct and govern AI coding agents throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Design and maintain agent workflows and prompt patterns for structured outputs.
• Trace, debug and triage agent tool calls and prompt failures.
• Create comprehensive documentation for architecture and maintenance.
• Provide accurate task estimations and contribute to sprint planning.
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure system uptime.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote AI-native ways of working.
