Job summary

Procore seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer to drive the next generation of our Workflows platform. You will shape the strategic technical direction, mentor senior engineers, and own critical architecture spanning web, backend, and AI‑driven surfaces.

You’ll work hybrid, two days per week in the Austin, TX office, collaborating with product, UX, and architectural teams to deliver scalable platforms that power complex workflows for construction clients.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience building large‑scale distributed systems.
• 5+ years at Principal level or above with broad technical scope.
• Deep expertise across Ruby on Rails, Go, Java, Node.js, Python; React and TypeScript.
• Experience with AI‑native engineering and integrating AI into SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Own multi‑year technical vision and architecture for foundational platform services.
• Set company‑wide architectural direction, standards, and patterns.
• Act as final technical authority on key design decisions across divisions.
• Mentor and grow senior engineers, lead architecture reviews and councils.
• Define Procore's AI‑native engineering approach across product teams.
• Remain hands‑on to prototype high‑risk bets and drive critical initiatives.
• Partner with VPs and executives to translate strategy into durable technology plans.
