Job summary

Knit in New York is seeking an AI‑native engineer to build and scale AI agent ecosystems. You will shape core architecture, orchestrate multi‑agent workflows, and deliver high‑performance services using Python and FastAPI.

As an early member of the NYC team, you will collaborate with product and customers, mentor peers, and own on‑call reliability. Expect fast iterations with strong security and compliance focus, influencing enterprise‑scale insights.

Qualifications

• Experience with LLM/agent systems, evals, and prompt tooling.
• Deep knowledge of event-driven systems, streaming, and workflow engines.
• Observability experience (OpenTelemetry/Prometheus/Datadog).
• Security & compliance (SOC 2, GDPR).
• Bias to action: small PRs, daily deploys.

Responsibilities

• Own 0→1 and 1→N features across the stack with scalable data pipelines and FastAPI services.
• Architect and own the core agent orchestration engine with multi-agent workflows and auditable actions.
• Build AI-native UIs with React/Next.js for safe collaboration with agents and explainability.
• Develop the experimentation platform: CI/CD for prompts and agents, evals, drift detection, safety layers.
• Ship fast and safely with robust tests, design docs, dashboards, and alerts.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, AI, Design, CS; talk to customers and SMEs.
• Optimize latency: caching, model selection, distillation, batching, vector search, infra efficiency.
• Operate what you build: on-call ownership and blameless postmortems.
• Mentor and collaborate with other engineers to raise the whole team.
