This role is suited for graduate students or PhD candidates participating in Spring/Summer or Summer/Fall terms, with 40 hours per week and a hybrid or onsite structure.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a U.S.-based PhD program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, AI, ML, EE, or related field.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++.
• Experience with AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, ONNX Runtime, vLLM, or SGLang.

Responsibilities

• Develop, benchmark, and optimize AI software for training, fine-tuning, and inference across CPU, GPU, and accelerator platforms.
• Profile AI workloads, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance improvements across compute, memory, and runtime layers.
• Design, prototype, and optimize GPU or CPU kernels using HIP, CUDA, OpenCL, or Triton.
• Research and implement AI model optimization methods such as quantization, sparsity, pruning, and distillation.
• Contribute to AI frameworks, libraries, and execution runtimes such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or ONNX Runtime.
• Develop or evaluate parallel and distributed computing methods for scalable training or inference.
• Explore compiler and graph optimization technologies to improve efficiency and portability.
• Build automated evaluation systems, CI/CD pipelines, and developer productivity tools for AI workflows.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, debugging, and optimization.
