Job summary

Google Sunnyvale, CA, seeks a Software Engineering Manager II, AI/ML for Google Cloud AI. This role combines deep ML expertise with people leadership to guide teams across diverse ML domains and large-scale systems.

You will set strategy, oversee project delivery, and help engineers optimize their code while shaping product direction. You will work with teams spanning information retrieval, AI, NLP, distributed systems, and security, managing projects and budgets across multiple sites

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with one or more ML areas (e.g., speech/audio, RL, ML infrastructure).
• 5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure (model deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in people management or team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Set and communicate team priorities that align with the broader organization's goals.
• Lead ML projects across multiple teams and locations and guide technical decisions.
• Develop mid- to long-term technical vision and roadmaps for ML initiatives.
• Design, guide, and vet system designs and contribute code to solve complex problems.
• Mentor engineers and drive model optimization and data processing strategies.
