Job summary

Virginia Tech's Advanced Research Computing invites applicants for a Research Software Engineer, AI/ML. This hands-on generalist role builds and supports software enabling AI/ML for researchers, owning our LLM infrastructure and collaborating with faculty and ARC staff.

You will tackle varied AI services, grow your skills, and lead workshops to help others use AI effectively. Hybrid on-site work is available; sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent with progressive experience.
• Experience in Linux shell, scripting, and system troubleshooting.
• Experience developing and maintaining software or web services.

Responsibilities

• Build and support software enabling AI/ML for researchers.
• Own and advance the LLM infrastructure and related AI services.
• Lead workshops and training to broaden AI usage among researchers.
