Job summary

The University of Delaware invites applications for a Research Software Engineer to join the NSF AI Institute for Human-AI Cooperation (HAIC). The RSE will build, validate, and maintain open-source software tools and cyberinfrastructure to support institute-wide research in AI, ML, and related domains.

Work involves collaborating with UD and partner institutions, leveraging HPC systems, and translating AI models for deployment across settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and five years of related work experience; Master’s/PhD preferred.
• Experience with Linux OS and command line interface.
• Scripting and programming in Bash, Python.
• Hands-on experience with HPC environments and SLURM.
• Extensive experience with version control (Git).
• Ability to work with researchers across multiple institutions.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of a technical, research-driven team across multidisciplinary groups.
• Support HAIC researchers to use HPC resources for AI, data science, ML, and physics simulations.
• Develop, deploy, scale, and optimize workflows on HPC resources.
• Maintain software practices: version control, pipelines, testing, documentation, and public repositories.
