Job summary

Veeam is seeking a Summer Intern to join the Summer Internship Program in San Jose, CA. The role focuses on ML research, model training, and rapid prototyping with guidance from the University Relations team. You will participate in onboarding sessions, weekly professional development, networking, and hands-on ML projects.

The program runs June–August 2027 (10 weeks). Candidates should be pursuing a Master’s or PhD in CS/AI and be in-office five days a week in San Jose.

Qualifications

• Passion & curiosity for ML research and model behavior.
• Strong foundation in supervised/unsupervised learning, optimization, regularization, and deep learning.
• Hands-on experience training deep learning models in PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Understanding probability, statistics, hypothesis testing and experimental analysis.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code with OO design.

Responsibilities

• Train and improve ML models across diverse datasets and tasks.
• Analyze loss curves, gradients, metrics and experiments to diagnose failures.
• Work on transformer models, fine-tuning workflows, evaluation systems.
• Prototype quickly using Claude-assisted development workflows.
• Build reusable tooling for experimentation, training and evaluation.
