Job summary

Leidos is seeking an AI/ML Intern for Summer 2027 in the Autonomy and AI branch, based in Huntsville, AL. You will tackle open-ended aerospace and defense problems with a multidisciplinary team and mentor support.

Responsibilities include applying Python/MATLAB, ML techniques, and data analysis to real projects, with opportunities to present your work in company events at the end of the summer.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and MATLAB.
• Strong foundation in linear algebra, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate frames.
• Understanding of vehicle dynamics, control systems, and flight mechanics.
• Familiarity with ML basics (supervised and reinforcement learning).
• Effective technical communication and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI/ML solutions for aerospace/defense problems on open-ended research problems.
• Contribute to active development and project success.
• Apply engineering, AI/ML, and software skills; implement solutions in Python.
• Collaborate with peers and mentors; learn independently.
• Present outcomes in company-wide events and a formal summer presentation.
