Job summary

Vizient is seeking an experienced AI/ML leader to drive the design, development, deployment, and operation of enterprise-grade AI solutions for knowledge-intensive workflows. You will combine generative AI, agentic workflows, retrieval, and deterministic processing while leading engineers and collaborating with product, domain, data, and platform teams.

You will stay hands-on with architecture and implementation, establish evaluation and observability practices, and mentor the team to translate

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience providing technical leadership for complex, production-grade software or AI systems.
• Experience personally designing, building, deploying, and operating generative AI or machine learning applications in enterprise production environments.
• Strong experience with Python and modern API/service development (e.g., FastAPI).
• Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic workflows.
• Experience establishing evaluation strategies for nondeterministic AI systems.
• Strong understanding of boundaries between probabilistic AI and deterministic software.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, development, deployment, and operation of enterprise-grade AI/ML solutions.
• Design solutions combining LLMs, agentic workflows, retrieval, structured data, APIs, and deterministic processing.
• Translate complex expert workflows into modular, testable software components.
• Establish evaluation strategies with test sets, grounding, and quality measures.
• Design observability to capture outputs, traces, results, and costs.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen AI engineering practices.
• Drive improvements using production metrics and user outcomes.
