Job summary

Alignerr is seeking Japanese language experts to evaluate and improve AI systems trained on Japanese-language content. You will shape how AI understands, generates, and teaches Japanese, contributing to a nuanced language-learning experience.

This role is an hourly contract, fully remote with asynchronous collaboration, requiring a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week. You will work with Alignerr to enhance linguistic quality and educational usefulness for AI systems.

Qualifications

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese.
• Experience teaching Japanese or evaluating learner language.
• Familiar with CEFR frameworks.
• Fluent in English (C1/C2).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated Japanese speech and text for linguistic accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality.
• Assess learner speech and writing across proficiency levels from CEFR Pre-A1 through B2+.
• Identify learner errors, unnatural phrasing, and pedagogical gaps using expert judgment.
• Suggest improvements for clear, idiomatic, and culturally authentic Japanese.
• Provide structured, actionable feedback that improves AI tutoring and language-learning models.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow language experts.

Who You Are

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese
• Experience teaching Japanese or evaluating learner language
• Fluent in English (C1/C2 level)
• Familiar with learner speech patterns and CEFR frameworks
• Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher
• Strong attention to detail and consistency in linguistic judgment
• No prior AI experience required
