Job summary

Code for America is seeking an Emerging Technology & AI Governance & Enablement Lead to shape how staff engage with AI tools. You will author and steward the AI Acceptable Use Policy, translate complex AI concepts into practical guidance, and partner with IT, Security, and People Operations to implement responsible AI practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years across IT, compliance, security, or organizational change.
• Experience drafting and socializing acceptable use or information security policies.
• Experience with AI tools and governance, data privacy, and policy.

Responsibilities

• Own AI governance policy lifecycle from drafting to adoption.
• Advise on AI tool deployment impacts for staff and policy alignment.
• Translate complex AI concepts into practical guidance for non-tech staff.
• Act as liaison between IT/security and People Ops/Legal on governance matters.
• Lead change management for AI-related transitions and staff training.
• Document pilots to share learnings and scale best practices.
• Partner with People Ops and Legal on AI-related employment policies.
