Job summary

The City of Chicago Department of Law seeks an Assistant Corporation Counsel Supervisor to provide strategic legal guidance on AI governance, risk and compliance, and related regulatory matters.

Under the supervision of Deputy Corporation Counsel, this role will advise City departments on employees' use of AI, coordinate with cybersecurity and risk management teams, and oversee confidential matters, data privacy, and potential litigation as needed.

Qualifications

• JD and active bar membership
• Minimum of 5+ years of legal experience
• Clear and effective communication skills
• Superior writing, researching and editing skills
• Exceptional client counseling skills
• Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, monitor, and control workflow deadlines
• Previous supervisory experience
• Experience advising on AI, governmental regulations, and data privacy
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-volume legal workflows in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with AI governance frameworks, privacy and cybersecurity concepts

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance to City departments on employees' use of AI in job functions
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, technology and risk management teams to develop AI policies
• Monitor regulatory developments in AI and related privacy, data security, and governance issues
• Advise on data sharing, data privacy, intellectual property, and regulatory matters
• Supervise or oversee AI-related litigation as needed
