Job summary

Block, Inc. in Chicago, IL is seeking an AI Legal Program Manager to navigate legal and regulatory aspects of AI initiatives.

You will partner with legal, engineering, product, and compliance to build responsible AI frameworks and ensure regulatory compliance across AI products and services. You will lead development of policies, risk assessments, and governance docs, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to implement compliant AI practices and incident response processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct experience in technical program management, with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML initiatives.
• Strong understanding of emerging AI regulations and their practical implementation.
• Experience developing legal frameworks for AI governance and responsible AI development.
• Track record of partnering with technical teams to implement legal requirements in AI systems.
• Understanding of IP considerations in AI development, including training data rights and output licensing.
• Experience with AI risk assessment methodologies and mitigation strategies.
• Strong project management skills with cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

• Drive the development and implementation of AI legal and compliance frameworks, including policies for model development, deployment, and monitoring.
• Participate in cross-functional reviews of AI projects to identify legal risks and opportunities.
• Develop and maintain AI governance documentation, including model cards and risk assessments.
• Partner with engineering teams to implement legally compliant AI development practices.
• Create and maintain processes for AI incident response, model monitoring, and legal validation.
• Build scalable processes for AI legal reviews across stakeholders.
