Job summary

Block, Inc. seeks an AI Legal Program Manager to navigate the legal and regulatory landscape of our AI initiatives. You will partner with legal, engineering, product, and compliance to build frameworks ensuring responsible AI innovation and regulatory risk management across AI products and services.

You will develop governance docs, monitor model deployments, and drive legally compliant AI development practices with transparency and fairness at the core.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of directly related experience in technical program management, with at least 2 years focused on AI/ML initiatives in a technology-driven environment.
• Strong understanding of emerging AI regulations (EU AI Act, state AI laws, etc.) and their practical implementation.
• Experience developing legal frameworks for AI governance and responsible AI development.
• Track record of partnering with technical teams to implement legal requirements in AI systems.
• Understanding of IP considerations in AI development, including training data rights, model ownership, and output licensing.

Responsibilities

• Drive the development and implementation of AI legal and compliance frameworks, including policies for model development, deployment, and monitoring that align with emerging AI regulations and industry standards.
• Participate in cross-functional reviews of AI project initiatives to identify legal risks and opportunities, ensuring compliance with regulations while enabling innovation.
• Develop and maintain AI governance documentation, including model cards, algorithmic impact assessments, training data compliance records, and legal risk assessments.
• Partner with engineering teams to implement legally compliant AI development practices, including requirements for transparency, fairness, and accountability.
• Create and maintain processes for AI incident response, model monitoring, and legal compliance validation.
