Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking a Tech Lead/Manager of Software Engineering (Remote) to guide an engineering team building AI-first tools for our learning platforms. You will set technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and design to deliver high-impact features for learners worldwide.

You will work across AWS, GCP, and Azure, driving modern SDLC practices and balancing debt with new capabilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
2+ years of technology leadership experience, including developing tech strategies and leading globally distributed teams.
Working knowledge of AI concepts including ML, LLMs, prompt engineering, AI agents, RAG, and vector databases.
Hands-on experience with GenAI toolkits and open-source frameworks (OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain).
Experience modernizing architectures, cloud-native platforms, and API design for integration with legacy systems.

Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on quality and continuous improvement.
Reimagine and optimize software delivery with automation and generative AI.
Drive Product Operating Model (POM) discovery with continuous customer engagement to derive solutions.
Track quality and efficiency with instrumented SDLC tools and report to executives.
Balance tech debt with new feature work within sprints.
Collaborate with partners to manage backlogs, estimates, and budgets.
Stay ahead of emerging tech trends to inject innovation into product roadmaps.
