Job summary

Western Governors University in Raleigh, NC seeks a Manager, AI Engineering to lead a high-performing AI team and turn AI opportunities into production-ready solutions. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Enterprise Data, Architecture, Security, and stakeholders to translate strategy into execution and uplift engineering excellence.

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise AI Platforms, you will mentor engineers, establish standards, drive delivery, and promote responsible AI practices

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in CS/SE/AI or related field.
• 3+ years of software/AI engineering experience.
• 1+ year leading software/engineering professionals.
• Production AI experience in a modern cloud environment.
• Strong Python or other modern language skills.
• Ability to translate ambiguous problems into engineering plans.
• Effective cross-functional collaboration and communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI Engineers with coaching and career development.
• Translate AI strategy into an actionable team roadmap and delivery plans.
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment of production AI applications.
• Establish engineering standards and quality expectations.
• Shape AI engineering strategy with leadership.
• Ensure AI solutions are production-ready, observable, secure, and scalable.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to enterprise AI practices.
