Job summary

Cricut is seeking an experienced AI Engineering Lead/Manager to guide a team building AI-powered features into our client applications. You will blend hands-on development with technical leadership, partnering with Product to shape the roadmap and delivering reliable, user-friendly AI experiences.

Responsibilities include end-to-end AI integrations, model/vendor evaluation, and establishing safe, observable AI features with strong quality and cost controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on software development in modern tech stacks.
• 2+ years as a technical lead or engineering manager.
• Proven experience integrating AI-based features into client-facing production software.
• Experience with AI/LLM APIs and SDKs and prompt design.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, CI/CD, and telemetry tooling.
• Hands-on use of AI engineering tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot).

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team delivering AI-powered features in client apps.
• Partner with Product Management to define AI roadmap and features.
• Architect end-to-end AI integrations (image generation, agentic actions, MCP).
• Write, review, and ship production code and solve hard technical problems.
• Evaluate models, vendors, and APIs for build-vs-buy decisions.
• Establish evals, guardrails, and user feedback loops for AI features.
• Ensure safety, privacy, and responsible AI practices.
• Collaborate with UX on AI interaction patterns and latency handling.
• Mentor engineers and foster learning and experimentation.
• Stay current with AI landscape and recommend impactful adoptions.
