Job summary

Amentum is hiring an AI Engineer in Hanover, MD to design, build, and deploy AI capabilities for classified and disconnected government environments. The role centers on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), open-weight LLM fine-tuning, and secure model serving on Government infrastructure.

You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to define what technology can deliver and how to adopt it responsibly, in hybrid office settings with high-performance computing resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field; equivalent experience accepted.
• 5+ years in software or ML engineering; 2+ years building ML apps for real users.
• Experience hosting AI models on GPU infrastructure and air-gapped environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI systems in production environments.
• Bridge data science and software engineering; handle data prep, model selection, APIs.
• Ensure security and governance for classified environments and ATO readiness.
• Collaborate across engineering, security, and mission teams.
