Job summary

ONEOK is seeking an AI Engineer in Dallas, Texas to design, build, and operate production AI systems that support Operations. You will own high-demand AI workloads, develop agents and retrieval pipelines, and establish reusable infrastructure for the team.

The role focuses on Python-based development, LLM-heavy workflows, API/SDK design, and production monitoring. You will collaborate across IT, Security, and analytics teams while advancing enterprise-grade AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, MIS, CS, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience with production ownership of AI/ML systems.
• Extensive experience with LLM-based systems, agent frameworks, tool use, evaluations, and retrieval.
• Strong Python engineering skills; familiarity with optimization, forecasting, or computer vision.
• Experience designing APIs, SDKs, or frameworks consumed by other engineers.
• Proven track record operating systems in production, including monitoring, incident response, and cost management.

Responsibilities

• Production AI systems: Develop, deploy, and maintain operations-critical AI systems with reliability and cost awareness.
• Advanced algorithms: Build optimization, forecasting, CV, and anomaly detection where needed.
• Shared frameworks: Create reusable templates, agent skills, and function-calling patterns.
• Tooling and prompts: Design, tune, and evaluate tools, function calls, and prompts.
• Operations-aware UX: Develop custom interfaces for operations workflows based on user requirements.
• Mentorship: Elevate capabilities of engineers and analysts and uphold technical standards.
• Security and IT: Ensure AI systems meet IT and security standards in production.
