Job summary

JTL is seeking two AI Engineers who will embed AI agents into developers’ daily work, enabling workshops, pairing and coaching to craft robust prompts and reliable tickets for automated actions.

You will serve as the team contact to share what works, build end-to-end AI workflows from idea to production, and ensure repositories are ready for agents with context, skills and validation checks.

Qualifications

• Several years of software development experience with real-world products.
• Excellent communication and teamwork to help engineers through collaboration and explanation.
• Hands-on experience with coding agents like Claude Code or GitHub Copilot in daily work.
• Understanding practical LLM applications: context engineering, tool calling, and agentic workflows.
• Able to navigate unfamiliar codebases and identify the context an AI agent needs.
• Experience integrating APIs, tools and data sources into software systems.
• Experience building custom tools, MCP servers, skills, and plugins to extend AI agents.

Responsibilities

• Enable developers to work with AI in workshops, pairing and coaching.
• Be the point of contact for teams to collect bottlenecks and share effective practices.
• Build AI workflows from idea to production on real tickets: bugs, reviews, tests.
• Prepare repositories for agents: context files, skills, rules, and automated checks.
• Develop internal agent platform and integrations with Jira, GitHub, docs, code search and MCP servers.
• Run workflows in production: monitor cost, quality, and data behind scorecards.
• Evaluate new AI agent developments for practical value to the team.

We develop scalable, flexible solutions for the online retail of the future, from ERP systems to shop and marketplace integrations. You don't just want to use AI tools – you want to shape how an entire engineering organization works with them. We are looking for two AI Engineers who make AI agents a reliable part of our developers' everyday work. We are not building a central AI team that writes every workflow for everyone else. We want our teams to work with AI on their own: with the right context, reliable access to engineering knowledge, and workflows that fit their repositories and ways of working.

You have several years of software development experience and have built and maintained real-world products beyond prototypes You communicate clearly, enjoy sharing knowledge, and enable other engineers through collaboration, explanation, and active listening You have hands-on experience with coding agents such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot in your daily development workflow You understand the practical application of LLMs, including context engineering, tool calling, and agentic workflows You can navigate unfamiliar codebases, quickly understand their structure, and identify the context an AI agent needs to work effectively within them You have experience integrating APIs, tools, and data sources into software systems You enjoy building custom tools, MCP servers, skills, and plugins to extend the capabilities of AI agents You have experience with one or more of our technology stacks, including C#, PHP, Node.js, and React.js. Your practical experience matters more than the specific programming language You are fluent in both German and English, written and spoken
