Job summary

Altria Client Services in Richmond, VA is seeking a Manager, Data Architecture & AI Enablement. You will own the target-state data architecture for Laboratory Services, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, and Product Innovation, delivering production-ready AI capabilities for scientists and regulatory professionals.

Lead a small team to define governed data models, build production pipelines on Databricks and Azure, and ensure compliant data access in a regulated environment with AI patterns like

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on data architecture and data engineering experience.
• Experience with laboratory/regulatory systems (LIMS, SDMS, electronic lab notebooks).
• Strong command of Databricks and Azure stack.

Responsibilities

• Own target-state data architecture for specified domains and the semantic layer for analytics and AI.
• Design data models and semantics for studies, samples, methods, results, and submissions.
• Deliver AI enablement including document intelligence and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Build and oversee production pipelines on Databricks and Azure with governance and cost management.
• Govern domains in Unity Catalog and Microsoft Purview with proper access control.
