Job summary

NextGear Capital, part of Cox Enterprises, seeks a Software Engineer II to build and evolve the systems and digital capabilities powering automotive inventory finance.

You will join a collaborative product and engineering team, own discrete features and components, and grow technical depth while collaborating with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to deliver high‑quality software that creates measurable value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years’ experience; or master’s with up to 2 years’ experience; or 14 years’ experience in related field.
• AI-assisted SDLC and SDD experience preferred.
• Proficiency across a backend framework (e.g., Java/Spring Boot) and frontend (e.g., React) with SQL/relational modeling.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI agents to build, test, and deploy software across the SDLC with proper context.
• Contribute to prompt engineering and share usage insights with the team.
• Engage in design discussions to conceptualize outcomes from a software engineering perspective.
• Assist with feature estimation in terms of technical input and timelines.
• Develop unit and system tests and ensure secure coding practices.
