NextGear Capital, a Cox Automotive company, seeks a Mobile Engineer II to build native Android experiences and own discrete features within a collaborative product and engineering team in Carmel, Indiana.

You will apply AI-assisted development practices, collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers, and deliver high-quality mobile solutions that improve user experiences and business outcomes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
AI-augmented mindset with ability to use AI copilots and tooling across the SDLC.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for moderately complex issues.
Experience with native mobile development (Android/Kotlin or iOS/Swift).
Familiarity with REST APIs, backend services, and data modeling.
Proficient with Git workflows and collaborative development practices.
Willingness to work on-site three days per week in Carmel, IN.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with AI agents and tools to build, test, and deploy software across the SDLC.
Contribute to prompt engineering and share insights with the team.
Engage in design and development discussions to define outcomes.
Assist with feature estimation in terms of technical input and timelines.
Develop unit and system tests, ensuring secure coding practices.
Provide technical support and enhancements for existing and new features.
Use observability tools to monitor health and validate behavior in production.
Document processes and best practices for repeatability.
Report status, challenges, and blockers to stakeholders.
Participate in code reviews and drive tasks to completion.
