Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for our Information Services Team in Pullman, WA. The intern will work part-time during the academic year and full-time during the summer, gaining hands-on experience with AI technologies and practical industry applications.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing MIS/CS/Info Systems, data analytics, cybersecurity, or related field
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
• Demonstrated interest in AI, automation, and emerging technologies
• Experience with programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, Python, or similar
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn new technologies

Responsibilities

• Be a champion for appropriate AI usage at SEL—educate, answer support questions, and identify learning sources
• Document best practices that can be shared with others
• Explore AI and data integration with M365 Copilot, Fabric, Power Platform, and related tools
• Experiment with new Microsoft features and assess capabilities
• Learn to configure and deploy M365 agents
• Collaborate with internal customers and vendors to understand MCP server requirements
• Understand security requirements around AI tools and MCP servers
• Follow and apply SEL values and World Class Manufacturing Principles
• Other duties as assigned
