Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a Power Engineering Internship in Pullman, Washington. The role is year-round, part-time during the school year and full-time in the summer, offering hands-on experience with power systems, protection concepts, and automation tools.

You will work in SEL's R&D Power & Automation department, supporting staff and customers, performing tests, and documenting results while learning from industry-leading engineers. Internship is based in Pullman, WA.

Qualifications

  • You are a current student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering with at least two years of technical coursework completed.
  • You have practical knowledge of electrical power systems, including three-phase circuits analysis and power flow.
  • You have some knowledge of power systems operation, control and protection concepts.
  • You have some experience with MATLAB, Simulink or PSCAD for power systems simulation.
  • You are willing to learn more about SEL protective relays and automation controllers.
  • You have the ability to use Microsoft Office software.
  • You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining knowledge in SEL processes and technologies.
  • Developing automation tools to support power system analysis, testing, and engineering workflows.

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative, and detail-oriented individual for a Power Engineering Internship with our R&D Power & Automation department in Pullman, Washington. The ideal candidate will be available year-round, working part-time during the academic year and full-time during the summer months. As a Power Engineer Intern, a typical day might include the following:

Pay Range Data

($24.25 - $33.00 per hour)* Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
