The role emphasizes Java-based development, AI framework work, and secure, scalable architectures, with a hybrid work arrangement in Columbia, MD. Strong testing and troubleshooting skills are valued.

Qualifications

Clearance required: U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
5+ years in Software Engineering with modern Java frameworks; college degree or equivalent experience.
Hybrid work: 1-2 days/week in Columbia, MD office; flexibility for schedule changes.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement complex software for computer-based systems.
Build foundational AI frameworks, including internal APIs, middleware, and routing layers.
Create MCP servers and a reusable skills library to enable AI models to safely interact with internal databases and services.
Implement enterprise AI guardrails: data privacy, scrub, prompt injection defenses, and output validation.
Collaborate with engineers in a fast-paced, small team environment; participate in automated testing pipelines.
