Job summary

Wyetech, a cutting-edge software company serving federal government, seeks a Software Engineer in Columbia, MD. You will design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems, collaborating with a talented team to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Required: 5+ years of software engineering experience with Java and modern frameworks; U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance; hybrid work with 1–2 days onsite weekly in Columbia.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with modern Java frameworks and libraries.
• Bachelor's in related field; 3 years with Masters; or HS diploma with 9 years of experience.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending 1–2 days per week at the Columbia, MD office.
• Strong problem-solving and testing skills; ability to work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems.
• Build foundational AI frameworks, including internal APIs, middleware, and routing layers for secure AI usage.
• Create a library of reusable 'skills' (functions/tools) for AI models to safely interact with internal databases, microservices, and external APIs.
• Implement enterprise AI guardrails for data privacy, scrubbing sensitive data, and prompt injection defenses.
• Collaborate with a fast-paced team and contribute to automated testing pipelines for non-deterministic AI outputs.
• Handle troubleshooting under pressure and adapt to schedule changes.
