Job summary

Remitly is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for the Card team in Arlington, VA. You will lead engineers who own features end to end, the screens customers see, APIs, and services that issue cards, hold balances, and move money.

As the first engineering leader in our Arlington office, you will shape the engineering culture and future hires. You will build with AI in the loop, while maintaining trust and security in a regulated money product. Hybrid work from Arlington, VA.

Qualifications

• BS (or MS) in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with hands‑on technical management.
• 5+ years of hiring and managing technical teams.
• Proficiency in at least one backend/full‑stack language (Go, Kotlin, Java, TypeScript).
• Experience designing secure, scalable software on AWS.
• Experience applying AI to developer productivity and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for cross‑team engineering efforts and drive engineering strategy.
• Partner with product and design to prioritize the roadmap and translate ambitions into OKRs.
• Own execution including quarterly goals, resource allocation, and prioritization.
• Hire and grow the engineering team, recruiting and onboarding engineers.
• Champion safe adoption of AI tools to boost productivity and velocity.
• Mentor engineers and uphold Remitly's values across the company.
• Collaborate with leadership to shape org design and prioritization.
