Job summary

Remitly is building the Remitly Global Card and is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Card team in Arlington, VA. You will guide end-to-end features, APIs, and services that issue cards, hold balances, and move money, shaping engineering culture as the first leader in the Arlington office.

You will collaborate with product and design, own quarterly goals, and grow the team while championing safe AI tooling to boost productivity in a regulated fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on technical management building full-stack solutions and API design.
• Experience hiring and managing technical teams, including performance management.
• Expertise in at least one backend or full-stack language (Go, Kotlin, Java, TypeScript) and adaptability to new languages.
• Experience designing secure, scalable software using cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Demonstrated ability to apply AI to developer productivity and product features, including safe AI tool adoption.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and drive long-term cross-team engineering efforts.
• Partner with product and design to prioritize the roadmap and translate ambitions into OKRs.
• Hire and grow the engineering team, including onboarding experienced engineers.
• Champion safe adoption of AI/agentic coding tools to boost productivity and velocity.
• Represent the team in cross-functional planning with Product, Design, Analytics, and partner teams.
