Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Security Engineering Manager to lead the detection and response lifecycle protecting AWS's operational network in Minneapolis. You will mentor engineers, own detection strategies, and drive automated, AI/ML-enabled security solutions.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, define security roadmaps, and report to senior leadership while delivering scalable, high-visibility security outcomes for AWS's vast cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of managing and developing teams.
• 5+ years of progressive work within a software security team or related operating environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Knowledge of security of web services, cryptography, network security protocols and OS security.
• Experience applying threat modeling or other risk identification techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of security engineers focused on detection engineering, incident response, and security operations across AWS's global infrastructure.
• Define and execute the strategic vision for detecting and responding to security threats.
• Drive adoption of AI/ML-powered detection and response solutions, including anomaly detection and automated triage.
• Own the end-to-end detection lifecycle with high fidelity and low false positives.
• Partner with Infrastructure Security teams to close detection gaps and improve MTTD/MTTR.
• Establish and track operational metrics for detection coverage and incident readiness.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain top security engineering talent with a culture of ownership and excellence.
• Communicate security posture and priorities to senior leadership.
• Champion automation and tooling to stay ahead of evolving threats.
