Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Manager for the AWS Identity and IAM Data Plane—Credentials Distribution Systems. You will lead a high‑impact team that builds tier‑0 infrastructure powering IAM credentials for EC2, EKS, ECS, and more, ensuring secure, scalable distribution across AWS.

You will own strategy, architecture, and cross‑functional collaboration with product management and AWS service teams, with a focus on reliability, automation, and security at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software lifecycle including coding standards, reviews, source control, builds, testing, and livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver long-term product and architecture strategy for temporary security credential management and distribution.
• Drive customer-facing impact by working backwards from customer needs to simplify credential management.
• Identify risks and escalate to senior leadership when needed.
• Set team strategy and ensure timely, high-quality execution.
• Own and improve operational metrics and automation tools for reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with Product Management to align on priorities and drive cross-functional execution.
• Work with AWS service teams to meet security and adoption goals.
• Make prioritization decisions and balance short-term delivery with long-term architecture.
• Utilize AI tooling to improve engineering productivity and automation.
• Grow a diverse, skilled team through hiring, mentoring, and coaching.
