Job summary

Octavian Robotics in Los Angeles is hiring the first robotics software engineer to design, develop, and implement software that controls our robotic sterilization machines. You will build the company’s initial software infrastructure and collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to guide design decisions.

Expect a fast-paced, high-ownership role with heavy problem-solving, tackling new technology, and working closely with the founding team to save lives through robotics.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with Linux (systemd, journalctl, network manager, permissions).
• Experience in training or inference models for motor control.
• AI-native workflows across all tasks.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to work on-site in Los Angeles with long hours.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement software to control machines.
• Build and implement the initial infrastructure of the company.
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers and guide design decisions based on what software can accomplish.
• Work with customer success and sales to translate needs into software solutions.
• Train entry/mid-level software developers in the development lifecycle of the product lines.
• Debug logs remotely with engineers and customer success staff to understand problems.
• This is an on-site position; you will work five days a week in Los Angeles.
