Job summary

Sorting Robotics is hiring an experienced Software Developer to advance our robotics stack and VLA-powered systems. The role involves building real-time teleoperation interfaces, collaborating with mechanical and electrical engineers, and translating customer needs into software solutions.

You will work on-site in Los Angeles, collaborating with a highly technical team and contributing to hardware/software integration and robust system design.

Qualifications

• 5 years of work experience
• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Experience with Linux (systemd, journalctl, network manager, permissions)
• Experience with Hardware
• Experience with Robotic Foundation Models and/or Visual Language Action models
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Develop a foundational robotics policy for the new VLA powered system.
• Build teleoperation interfaces for real-time robot control during testing.
• Guide design decisions with software capabilities alongside mechanical/electrical engineers.
• Translate customer and company needs into software solutions with sales/support teams.
• Travel to client locations for on-site system-level debugging and maintenance.
• This on-site role requires working five days a week at the Los Angeles office.
