Job summary

LaunchCode is seeking a Software Quality Engineer for a hybrid role in St. Louis, MO. This one-year contract, through LaunchCode, partners with a global retailer and focuses on AI-assisted testing alongside a Selenium-based automation framework.

You will collaborate with developers, product owners, and designers to design maintainable, risk-based tests that reflect real-world eCommerce and store workflows, including AI-driven test design. Strong QA automation experience is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software quality engineering or test automation.
• Hands-on experience applying AI-assisted testing tools or techniques.
• Proficiency in C# and/or JavaScript for writing automated tests.
• Experience with Selenium, Gherkin, and BDD frameworks such as SpecFlow or Cucumber.
• Strong understanding of functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing for web applications.
• Ability to analyze defects, communicate quality risks, and support release readiness decisions.
• Ability to collaborate across multiple scrum teams within a SAFe environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, quality-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Execute and improve automated test suites using the existing Selenium-based framework and the emerging AI-enabled testing platform.
• Write and maintain clear, reusable automated tests using Gherkin feature files, BDD practices, and step definitions in C# and JavaScript.
• Apply AI-assisted testing techniques to improve test design, identify edge cases, and support exploratory testing.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and designers to translate business requirements into maintainable test scenarios.
• Validate omni-channel workflows across eCommerce and in-store systems.
• Analyze defects, investigate root causes, and communicate quality risks and open issues.
• Participate in agile ceremonies within a SAFe environment.
• Coordinate with Quality Engineers across scrum teams to promote consistent test coverage.
• Serve as an AI testing advocate by evaluating practical AI tools and techniques that improve test design and maintainability.
