Job summary

Roku is seeking an Automation QA Engineer to own automated test development for Roku TV platforms from requirement reading to device execution and debugging, including AI-assisted testing. This is a hands-on role with production Python against our automation framework and real hardware in the loop.

You will work with firmware, platform and partner teams, triaging failures, ensuring reliable automated coverage across multiple TV platforms, and validating results on hardware before release.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Python test automation experience.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated test suites for embedded/firmware.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated test cases for Roku TV firmware and features using Python and the internal automation framework.
• Own test reliability; investigate flaky tests and isolate failures (script, infra, firmware or product).
• Triage automation failures, reproduce, root-cause and fix or route defects with evidence.
• Convert manual test cases from NPI backlog into automated coverage, including hardware-dependent scenarios.
• Integrate and maintain tests in CI/CD; keep suites green, fast and trustworthy across TV platforms.
• Review peers' automation code for maintainability and verification quality.
• Collaborate with firmware, platform and partner teams; report results clearly to stakeholders across Taiwan, China and the US.
• Use AI coding agents to develop, debug and triage automation against real devices with hardware verification.
