Job summary

Edison Scientific is seeking a Protein Engineer to join our Forward Deployed team, onsite with pharma/biotech partners. You will ensure AI agents provide rigorous, developable biologics design recommendations grounded in protein engineering principles.

You will define benchmarks, stress test outputs, and collaborate with partner teams to accelerate their engineering workflows. This is embedded, client-facing work with engineers and scientists across biology and AI.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Protein Engineering, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotech, or related field with 5+ years in biologics discovery or protein engineering.
• Track record in protein optimization campaigns spanning antibody/enzyme engineering or therapeutic proteins.
• Proficiency with protein design/analysis tools like Rosetta, AlphaFold, FoldX, or MD platforms.
• Strong foundation in protein structure, function, stability, and sequence-property relationships.
• Experience integrating developability, immunogenicity, and expression data into design decisions.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and improve AI agent performance on protein engineering tasks including sequence optimization, variant library design, stability and developability prediction, and screening strategy.
• Build benchmarks and success criteria for biologics-focused workflows.
• Collaborate with partner engineers and biologics teams to deploy AI agents into engineering pipelines.
• Act as the large molecule authority on AI outputs, assessing plausibility, manufacturability, and feasibility.
• Collaborate daily with Forward Deployed Engineers and Computational Biologists on each account.
• Support engagement scoping, success metrics, and technical evaluation with go-to-market teams.
