Job summary

Gusto is hiring a Product Designer who will partner with Product, Engineering, Data and Research to shape strategy and create a cohesive retirement experience across employer and employee journeys.

You will serve as the design lead for projects, co-own priorities and success metrics, and drive alignment with Retirement and key partner teams (Payroll, Benefits, Support/Ops). Expect iterative, high-trust design work with AI-enhanced tooling.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in product design with an impact-driven portfolio.
• High bar for craft across interaction design, information architecture, and visual design.
• Bonus: experience in regulated/high-trust domains (fintech, taxes, insurance, healthcare, retirement).
• Demonstrable AI fluency in design practice and evidence of AI-enhanced prototyping.
• Ability to bridge design and code and partner with Product, Engineering, Data.

Responsibilities

• Drive strategic vision and partnerships across activation, engagement, and retention.
• Collaborate with Data and Research to understand funnels and success metrics.
• Own the full design process from scoping to MVP to iteration and long-term improvements.
• Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into clear flows and UI patterns.
• Craft compelling narratives to align stakeholders and explain design decisions.
• Mentor design peers and raise the craft bar across the organization.
• Champion the design system and evolve patterns for consistency.
• Use AI to prototype rapidly and raise team fluency in applying AI to design.
