Job summary

Gusto is hiring a Product Design Manager for Payroll to lead the design direction of a core product used by hundreds of thousands of small businesses. You’ll shape the UX, mentor designers, and partner with Product, Engineering, and Data to deliver a scalable payroll experience with AI and automation at the core.

You’ll guide the team to define long-term UX vision, drive quality across outputs (AI-assisted or not), and influence roadmaps that balance user needs with system health.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of product design experience with leadership

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design for Payroll, shaping experiences for pay accuracy and reliability.
• Define and communicate the long-term UX vision for Payroll and rally multiple teams.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, Ops to set strategy and roadmaps.
• Lead AI/automation initiatives to simplify payroll without compromising accuracy.
• Collaborate with Research and Data to translate insights into priorities.
• Influence product and technical roadmaps with design quality in mind.
