Job summary

c1.ai is seeking a Design Engineer who sits at the intersection of design thinking and hands-on building. You’ll design and ship product experiences, often in the same session, using agentic coding harnesses and modern design tools.

You’ll balance design quality with pragmatic shipping while maintaining a strong product vision. You’ll work with a small, autonomous design team and collaborate closely with engineering and product managers.

Qualifications

• Strong product design instincts, but leads with building.
• Experience with AI tooling and agentic development.
• Fluency with design tools and prototyping.
• Experience with design systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with engineering and product teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build product experiences end to end, from problem framing through working implementation.
• Work across a modern, AI-native toolkit daily: agentic coding harnesses, design tools like Paper and Pen.dev, prototyping tools like Claude Design, and MCP integrations.
• Make design decisions grounded in data from usage, feedback, and research, translating findings into solutions.
• Contribute to and evolve our design system, ensuring consistency and quality as the product area grows.
• Work directly in code to prototype, validate, and ship UI as a default mode.
• Communicate the why behind design decisions clearly and publicly.
