Job summary
Flexera seeks a hands-on Principal Engineer & AI Technical Lead to direct architecture and delivery. You will work with AI coding agents (Claude Code, OpenAI Codex) to build production‑ready software and guide a small team.
You will own technical outcomes, decompose problems, ensure security and observability, and partner with stakeholders to translate goals into practical, scalable solutions.
Qualifications
- Significant software engineering experience with leadership.
- Experience delivering production software end to end.
- Ability to balance speed, security, and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical architecture and implementation strategy for team apps and services.
- Translate business goals into pragmatic technical solutions.
- Trade off delivery speed, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Establish engineering standards, patterns and docs.
- Simplify systems and accelerate delivery where possible.
- Ensure code is understandable and maintainable by future engineers.
- Lead AI-native software engineering with AI agents in the lifecycle.
- Create workflows for AI-assisted requirements, code gen, tests, and reviews.
- Decompose work for parallel AI execution with clear tasks.
- Set repository context and guardrails for AI access.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated code and decide on changes.
- Improve engineering workflow based on actual delivery results.
